The core activity of SKOUN is treatment. Supplementary activities are prevention, social reintegration, information, research and legal lobbying.

The target population is the occasional and regular drug users mainly youth aged 15-25, drug users’ families, and all institutions and individuals concerned by substance misuse.

SKOUN advocates for the prevention of drug dependency and other addictions, and will initiate innovative treatment and services for a better-adapted healthcare system for drug users in Lebanon. A system that:

Recognizes the different behavioral usages and treats accordingly
Treats drug users with dignity and respect
Employs specialized staff
Provides pre-emptive and continuous therapeutic support and follow-up
Offers counseling and support to families and communities affected by drug misuse
Offer drug-treatment facilities that evolve with the needs of its “patients”
Initiates appropriate health education and prevention programs
Implements a harm reduction policy

These aspects contribute to stop the social, physical, and psychological degradation related to drug dependency and abuse. The aim is for the drug user to recover and maintain a satisfying emotional equilibrium, psychological and physical health, socio-professional stability,
and establish a sense of autonomy.
